Mountain Climbing in the Bald Praires?

On Saturday the family headed about 1/2 hour east from where we live to go for a little walk in the mud butes. Out of completely flat land suddenly appears this cavity in the earth which we like to occasionally go to and walk around. This is the first time that we have ever gone since Jaren has been born. It was a beautiful day and one enjoyed by all. Here are some of the pictures that I took from the little adventure. Hope you enjoy.

Heading down to the base of the mud butes

Once at the bottom there is so much to explore

But what goes down must at some time go back up!!

To our surprise Jaren made it up the whole way by himself!

Even Keesha got to join in on the family fun

Just about to the top!!

Enjoying the Great Outdoors

Despite the gusty wind that we had today Jaren and I were able to get outside this afternoon for a short while to get some fresh air and much to my surprise the temperature was half decent! It ended up being a very pleasant time out playing around the yard. Keesha keeping a close eye on where her little buddy is!
" What can I get into next?"
Always loving life to the fullest!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday Dad!!

Canning Tomatoes

Today was the day for canning some of the 100 lbs of tomatoes that Connie had grown in her garden that were ripe. I had some pretty good help from my assistant as he beat the tomatoes in the water and made quite a lovely mess!! The ripe ones that we got done today took us only about 5 hours and we were able to can 18 quarts and 8 pints of tomatoes. I was expecting to be in that kitchen until dark so I am glad now that I still have a couple of hours to get a few other jobs done today! At least we got the biggest day done today and we will keep on top of the few boxes that are still downstairs as they ripen over the next week or so.

Harvest

Here are a couple more pictures of some of the harvesting that is going on right now. Jaren is quite pleased to be able to go for short rides in the combine - we have to sit too long and we get quite bored after awhile. So the shorter the better!!! Maybe when he's running the equipment in the years to come he'll have a little more patience (hopefully!!!!!!!).

Thanks again Daddy for the ride!!!

A Beautiful September Day

We had a day packed with fun and a little work. We started off this morning going over to Grandma Letniak's to help get a meal ready to take to the guys out in the field. After that was done it was back home to do dishes, have naps, and dig carrots out in Grandma's garden. So following are a coulpe of shots of the happenings of our day.

Just like daddy!!

We are taught to ALWAYS share!! :)

Even Keesha got to join in on a couple of the left-overs
We're on a mission - going to the garden. Do these boys ever stop running??
Taste-testing a few of the carrots to make sure they are worthy!
Is that another carrot we snuck?

Impressed?

"All this potty-training can wear a little fellar right out, you know??? Do I look impressed??"

We are currently on day 4 of our potty training adventure. I guess that only time will tell but if we sit down every 45 minutes we are having only 1-2 accidents in our pants/day. I just don't know how long my life can function on 45 minute intervals though!! It will be impossible to venture out of the house! The hardest part of this whole thing was trying to reward him for peeing on the potty - what could I use??? We tried stickers....BORING, what else does he like that he never gets (?).................SMARTIES!!!!!! They seem to really be doing the trick, so much so that the good dental hygienist mom that I am I decided to cut the Smarties in half because he was peeing too well in the potty and always wanting the reward!! ;) Like I said only time will tell....please remember us in your prayers that I may continue to have patience!!!

My Apologies!

My apologies for the lack of creative pictures lately of my little man!! With coming into week 10 of this pregnancy I am hoping that I will get my energy level back up to be able to chase Jaren around with my camera again and get those perfect poses. But right now I am lucky if dishes get done or the laundry gets out of the washing machine. I must admit some days are beginning to feel a bit better and I do get the house put back into order every once in awhile.

Then also over the past 2 days I have been attempting to see how potty training would go - I am feeling 99% of the time that it is VERY unsuccessful!! He isn't fighting me on it but he also isn't peeing (in the potty, only in his pants & he doesn't seem to care that he is wet - only mommy does!! We're too busy driving tractors & playing!!!!!!!!) If by the end of the week I seem no further ahead than when I started we will leave it and then come back to it in a couple months. I am NOT going to fight a losing battle if we aren't ready yet!

So in a nutshell that has been our past couple of days, so needless to say pictures on the potty every 20 minutes just wouldn't be that interesting!

Just Another Day

With harvest you always seem to get some headache - like a very unneeded flat tire on one of the combines!!!! I guess that this little incident started yesterday and ended up like this sometime late last night. What's the saying....when it rains, it pours!! At least some of the pressure is off for today to get out there to combine because we are now getting an unexpected wind/rain storm. Never fails! :)

Despite the weather Jaren always seems to find the highlights of a day and make the best of it. This was his and Daddy's ride home for lunch today. Jaren especially enjoyed pulling the horn and trying to scare mommy - he thought that was pretty funny!
Then after our tummies were full we thought that it was time to play with a very tired Daddy - we'll do anything to get a rise out of him and make sure that Daddy can't take a afternoon snooze!

Harvest Time is Upon Us

Since the beginning of August we have been attempting to get our harvest done but of course when you don't really want the rain it seems to appear and make the crops too wet to take off. So when we have good drying days Daddy puts in some very long hours and Mommy & Jaren have some very long days to themselves! Hopefully the weather continues to cooperate so we are able to finish in good time.
