A Little Bit of Talkin'

This is just a little video I took with my camera of Landen talking, cooing and smiling a bit (the quality isn't the best but it gives you the idea!!). Each day it gets more and more - it is so wonderful to be interactive with him and have him recognize me and my voice. They grow way too quickly!

Future Cowboy or Horticulturalist??

Today I thought that we got a glimpse of what Jaren's future career was going to be. He spent the afternoon at the farm with Grandma planting "his" garden. Grandma is REALLY determined to get me gardening some way or another :) He planted some lettuce, string beans, carrots and cucumbers. Now we just have to make sure that we get over there to water it!!
Later in the afternoon Grandpa saddled up his new horse Classy to take her for a ride. He got her last week - who knows maybe soon he'll have a few horses that the grand kids can ride and then we can all go. So Jaren got to ride Classy (or should I say sit on) for a little bit.
On the way home I asked Jaren if he had a good day and he told me he had a great day. So I said to him "What was the best part of the day Jaren?" and he said "Riding the quad with Daddy!!". I guess I have my answer - Jaren will neither be a cowboy or a horticulturalist, he'll just be riding quads!! :)

"Not too sure about this gardening business!!"

"And I really don't know about these horses! Where's daddy and his quad??"

Happy Birthday to My Wonderful Husband!

Today was Kevin's 31st birthday and it has been a busy one at that!! Him and Jaren left this morning at 6:30am to haul a load of grain to Trochu and I took the opportunity to head outside at 6:40am to mow the rest of my grass. The people who drove by our yard at that time in the morning must have thought that I was crazy! :) You've got to get the best of your time when the baby is sleeping!!! With us going all directions today we finally got to sit down and have a nice family dinner together before all taking off again tonight to finish other jobs.

I just wanted to take the time to share in some of the pictures and highlights of my loving husband. He is such a wonderful father to his two little boys who absolutely adore him. I am so lucky to have met him and be able to share my life with him. Without him I wouldn't be blessed with the children that we have - I wouldn't have wanted a life without them! Even though we seem to lead such busy lives I just wanted to say "I love you and thank you for being you!".

Happy Anniversary to Curtis & Julie

Happy anniversary to you both!
It's hard to believe that 7 years has flown by us and how our lives have changed and our families have grown! We wish you all the best in many, many years to come!

Sabbath Day Family Fun

Today we went to the Hanna church for Sabbath to hear their guest speaker Pastor Paul Antunes. After a great potluck we decided to stop by the local park to burn off some of Jaren's energy that he had built up that day. So following are some of the pictures of our little monkey:

Daddy ALWAYS close at hand to help the monkey man when needed!

Even Landen got to enjoy some of the park :)
Going down.......
then back up! Who needs stairs?

Upon arriving back at home.....

"So much to do, so little time!"

Special Congratulations!

On Saturday, May 17th my cousin Hollie was married to her wonderful fiance Phillipe. She was married in Terrace, BC and took the chance of having the ceremony outdoors. I am so glad that the weather turned out nice for your special day. Congratulations to you both as you begin this new venture together!

We also want to congratulate Brian and Becky Trenchuk on the safe arrival of their newest family member:

Morning Cattle Drive

This morning we went and helped Daddy and others move a group of cattle and calves from one field to another. Jaren of course was front and center on the quad with Daddy and Landen was in hot pursuit with me in the truck. It was nice to get out and help a little and get some fresh air between the showers we've been having over the past 24 hours. Things weren't extremely dusty for a change, it was a lovely cool morning.
Waiting patiently with Daddy to get the show on the road

After we moved the cattle we stopped by Jacob's place (he helps us on the farm) to see a new miniature horse that he had bought for his kids. What an adorable little thing she was and she was quite excited to see some people as well.

Fun in the Sun and a Trip to the Museum

Julie and the kids were out for a couple days so we had some fun with our cousins in the nice weather. On Monday we played out in the yard with our Winnie the Pooh bubble blower which was a hit once again! Thankfully the wind died down that day and it was a perfect temperature to be outdoors. Then on Tuesday we all ventured to Drumheller to take in the experience of the Royal Tyrell Museum with 4 children and 3 adults! The kids loved looking at all the enormous dinosaurs that were in the museum.

After going to the museum and having lunch we went to a park in Drumheller which has this really fun water park, so of course the kids had to get wet - especially Jaren and Kaitlyn!! They all had fun trying to shoot each other with the water hose and running under the water that would shower down from the trees. Jaren got soo wet and soo cold he hardly could focus on which way to turn to get out of the water. And being the good parent, Auntie and Grandma we were...no one went in to get him because we were in stitches laughing at him. All he said afterwards was "That water is FREEZING!!"

My Daily Entertainment - Our Boys

One day Jaren was at Grandma Letniak's while I took Landen to a doctor's appointment - it looks like he had fun helping Grandma haul her rocks. I am glad to see that safety is a priority there!! :) Our littlest one who is growing soo much everyday and is really beginning to interact with us more and more with his most darling smiles and coos. He is such an added treasure to our family.
I could just kiss those cheeks all day long - don't know if Landen would agree!
Our protector of a dog, she likes to usually keep a safe distance from the kids.
Double trouble!

TGIF

We had a busy week between running lunches to Kevin in the field as we are in the midst of seeding and spraying, heading to town, trying to get some mowing of the grass done between naps, appointments for Landen, a day of visitors, etc.... I don't know where the past week has gone?? It just seems as though it was Sunday and here Friday is upon us! Now we are going to spend the day cleaning the house and getting dinner ready for tomorrow because we are having company over after church. I am hoping that all goes well and we'll be able to get outside for a short bit this afternoon to get some of my potted plants planted. It has been sooooo warm but VERY windy here the past couple of days. I am always apprehensive about planting my pots cause it NEVER fails and we always get a bad frost or some terribly cold weather at the end of May. Maybe this year it will be different.
Yesterday we had Landen's 2 month immunizations done and the little fellow weighed in at a whole 10 lbs 12 oz!! He measured just under 21 inches long with her stick. He's gained about 3 lbs a month since we brought him home. He's a good performer!!! :) If he keeps this up he'll catch up to Jaren in no time!
We hope you all have a blessed May long weekend wherever you are. We are sticking close to home due to the busy season that is upon us.

Happy Mother's Day to All You Special Moms!!

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, a day to show appreciation to all the hard working, loving moms out there. It is hard to believe that I am now one in that group with 2 of the most precious boys ever. Everyday I am so thankful for their health & well-being and the blessings that they bring to our family. Even though I have been quite sleep deprived for the past 8 weeks all I have to do is look into the face of my smiling infant or have a big hug from my 2 1/2 year old and all my cares and worries disappear. They depend so whole-heartedly on you as a parent and I pray that I can do my best to raise them both to be honorable men when they grow up and to show them our love and God's love on a daily basis. Motherhood is one of the most challenging jobs that I have ever had to face but it is THE MOST rewarding one that I have had!

Happy Mother's Day!!
Home is what catches you when you fall - and we all fall.

Happy 90th Birthday Grandma!

Tomorrow is my Grandma Hovland's 90th birthday. I just wanted to take a moment to honor her and share some of the memories that we have captured over the past couple of years with our photographs. I wish that I could be there with the rest of the family as they celebrate a wonderful life of 90 years. I look forward to when we go home this summer so that she can meet one of her newest great grandsons. Due to her having a stroke here in January she was unable to make the trip to come with my folks when they were here. I know she always enjoys coming out to the farm and we missed having her this year!

We were so fortunate to have Grandpa and Grandma Hovland come out right after Jaren was born. So many special memories were created during those few weeks that they spent here with us.

Visitors

Yesterday we had a visit in the afternoon from Andrea, Braxton and Paisley. It was fun to watch the boys tear around the house together and have fun. Poor Paisley wanted so badly to chase after them but to no avail as she isn't quite walking yet - just about!! She'll be a year old on the 24th of May.
Today is going to be a day spent inside because we are getting May showers outside - YEAH!!! We need the moisture for sure. Now once that sun comes out again with a bit of heat things will really begin greening up around here (we'll enjoy the green while we can!).
