Last Day of Preschool

On Thursday we had Jaren's last day of preschool. It just amazes me how quickly the monts have flown by and now my little man will be starting kindergarten this next year. Wow! So we enjoyed a little year-end party with the kids to wrap the year up.

Callan and Jaren will be moving onto Kindergarten together next year.

Who's that??? Landen and his helmets!!!! :) Our little guy that always manages to make us smile!

Unusual Sighting

Yesterday afternoon this is the sight we saw passing our yard. Kevin had seen her from the highway and phoned home to tell us to look outside cause we were going to have a visitor going by soon. We don't see a huge # of elk in the area. I've only ever seen one other buck shortly after we moved out here. It was great to watch.

On Sabbath afternoon we had a wonderful time going for a quad ride and having a picnic at the lake with Murray and Elaine.

...and the cat came back!

The funniest thing happened on Saturday morning when Kevin went for a walk with the boys. Tori scared a black cat out of the tall grass and into a pipe. So Kevin phoned me and said that he thought Chubby might be alive. I went out to where this cat was hiding and called her name and immediately she came out to me - it was Chubbs!!!! The cat that was killed in the fan of the truck was an imposter who looked EXACTLY like our Chubbs! What are the chances of that. So needless to say I was quite happy on Sabbath morning to have our little Chubbs back! It was so cute to see the kids' reaction - that doesn't happen too often :)

Sad Goodbyes

In the past 2 weeks we have had some unfortunate luck with some of our pets. On May 19 one of our bunnies, Floppy, died on us at the age of 3 years old. It was a sad day for the boys. Floppy upon arriving at our place in 2008.

Soon after Floppy passed away Chubbs, our black cat became good friends with our other rabbit and enjoyed sleeping in the bunny house with Pepper away from all the noise and chaos outside. But unfortunately this morning, Chubby was in a place she shouldn't have been (sleeping near the fan in one of the big trucks) and was killed when Kevin went out to start the truck. She will be DEARLY missed, she was 9 years old and a favorite of ours.

The ONE bad thing about having pets is having to say goodbye!

Hauling Peas

Today we finally started hauling the peas from our yard!

Invasion of the Fox Pups!

This morning as I was changing the laundry I happened to look our the window to see a bunch of fox pups tearing around right beside our house. I thought that I could count 5 of them but I do believe there were 6 pups in total, plus the mother who was never too far away. They have made a den underneath our train station.

1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 pups in this picture....the little runt pup is missing from this game of tag.

The other entrance to the den on the opposite side of the train station.

Momma fox coming around the corner to make sure the pups are safe from danger.

5 pups again playing around.

This little one was the runt of the litter and wasn't quite as aggressive as the other 5.

The advantages of living out in the country!! :)

Lovin' the Sun!

On Friday I decided to put my flowers outside into their pots. I was minus one child as he went seeding with Murray for a couple of hours and the less hands in the dirt means better survival rates for my plants. Landen going seeding with Mr. Murray - he was so tickled cause he was able to take his own lunch and the is THE best part about riding in the tractor!

It was such a gorgeous day on Friday so we tried to do a bit outside even though Friday was the day to be in the house getting things ready for the weekend. What better way to spend a little time on a beautiful sunny day then to chase bubbles.

I love the hand coordination in the picture! :) I sure hope he popped the bubble! ;)

I can't wait for the flowers to fill in. It is so nice to look out the windows now and see some colours. Maybe summer is around the corner?

Please Pray for Grandma Hovland

On May 10th my Grandma celebrated her 93rd birthday in Terrace. Then today, 1 week later, she sufferred a stroke. Please remember her in your prayers for a quick recovery so that she may be fulfilled with happiness and a peace. I am unaware right now of the complete effects of the stroke, but I do believe that her speach has been affected. And for anyone who knows my Grandma, she LOVES to talk! :) Thanks for your prayers in advance!

Great Way to Brighten the Day

On Monday the boys and I went to a greenhouse to pick out some flowers for our outdoor pots. It was sooo beautiful in there with the sea of bright colours. It would brighten anyones day!

Then afterwards we went and visited a very special friend that the boys have made when they go and do the lodge service with Grandma. Mrs. Rose met Jaren about 4 years ago and they have developed a sweet relationship. So when we get the chance, we try to stop in and see her. She will be 93 years old this fall.

Beware of Flying Tent!

Quick thinking on Landen's part seconds after a gust of wind whipped through our yard and decided to steal the tent he was playing with! The reason you never leave things out that aren't tied down or you never leave your house windows open!! The gusts/whirlwinds arrive out of nowhere and when you least expect them!! RUN FOREST RUN!!!

(My thinking as I am killing myself laughing watching him scream for his tent to stop!! What a good mother I am!!!! :)

STOP!!!!!
GOTCHA!

RESCUE MISSION COMPLETE!
