Ponies, Ponies, Ponies

We have been Pony-Sitting some miniature horses for the past couple of weeks.  These are Jonathan and Kaitlyn's horses so when they left over Christmas we thought that it was a good thing to have the boys go and look after.  We have been really quite enjoying them and their little personalities!  I don't know if Landen is going to let them go back home.  They are his new buddies!!
Going for a ride on Spice - only if she'd move!!

Whinny

Spice is more interested in trying to eat Landen's boot!

"Mom, we need to change the batteries!"

"Finally!"

"Take a picture of me!!!"

Show and Tell

Jaren had show and tell on Monday and since the arrival of Pumpkin in July he has wanted to take her!  Being a "farm" cat I wasn't too sure how this would go!  I was pleasantly surprised :)  She is an awesome kitty!

Loving all the attention!

Exhausted after entertaining all those kids!

She may come on our next Terrace trip!!  ;)
She's a great traveler!

Meet Megan

In the middle of August Ron had to put the farm dog Colby down due to some health issues that he was having.  So what is a farm without a dog??  This past week Ron found a puppy that he liked and will hopefully help keep coyotes away when she gets a little bigger.  She is a border collie/great pyrenees mix.  She is quite the sweet little thing and the boys enjoy running around with her when they go visit Grandpa and Grandma.

Landen has found a new "trike" at the farm.  This was great grandma Scobie's trike and he LOVES riding it!

Lil' Megan!  So cute!

LOTS of kisses for Jaren

Tori wasn't too interested as she is now a "mature" dog!!  :)
Funny how things change!

Birthday Celebration

On February 11th Tori celebrated her 3rd birthday, I can now say that she is finally beginning to develop a brain and growing up a little!!! :) She still keeps life interesting around here with the kids but is genuinely a sweet little dog!! Love her to bits!

So on the morning of the 11th Jaren decided he wanted to do something special for his best friend so he built her a milk-bone cake, placed candles in it, sang her happy birthday and blew out the candles. It was so cute to watch him. He has such a tender heart and is so thoughtful and caring. While all this was happening our youngest was still sleeping and missed out on most of the celebration.

Finally getting a piece of her "milk-bone cake".

New Kittens

This weekend we got some new kitties for the boys. The boys want cats that don't mind being handled and also some cats who Tori has been "trained" (if at all possible) to not chase. So by getting some kittens we thought that they would get used to both the boys and the dog! Maybe they would stick closer to home unlike our other adult cats we have around the place.

The black kitten, Nicole (the name chosen thus far), just LOVES the kids and follows them all around the yard so I think she should be a good one and one that will be easy to have the dog get used to. She holds her own pretty good for how little she is.

This little one is named Sandy. So far Sandy just likes to take off and hide from everyone. She is VERY quite and hides VERY well. We are still unsure how she'll end up or if she'll decide to stick around.

On We Go...

After a very long and emotional week of having to deal with the fact that we had to put Keesha down we packed up and headed to Lacombe for Kevin's 15 year alumni reunion weekend. Once the weekend was over the boys, Tori and myself were then westbound to Terrace, BC to visit my parents for 2 weeks. It was hard to leave and go there this time cause this was the first trip to Terrace that I was taking without my beloved best friend Keesha. Although it was very difficult it was a change of scenery that was much needed for me to help start heal the hurt of losing her. Kevin's class reunion of 1996 (not all were in attendance of course) Landen and Sydney at the park

Forever in Our Hearts

Today was an extremely sad day in our house as we had to say goodbye to our beloved Keesha. Keesha was going to be 14 this year and has been such a part of all of our lives. She will be FOREVER loved and missed, she was the best dog anyone could have asked for. So my heart is very heavy tonight as I am writing this post. She was just getting very old and was quite uncomfortable at times physically. Her hearing was just about gone (I believe) and her sight wasn't the best which made her nervous to be anywhere but inside our house. Time was not going to heal the aging process that was occurring but I am sure hoping that time will heal my aching heart. I created a slide show of some of the pictures that I have of her, there are many so just a warning if you start to watch it :) I have more from today but just can't bring myself to download them from my camera yet to remind me of what we had only a few hours ago. Maybe in the future I will post them. Thanks to all of those who knew her and loved her too, she was quite the girl!

We will always love you and there is such an empty feeling in our house without you here tonight with us! You will be kept close to our hearts sweet and precious girl! Rest peacefully.

...and the cat came back!

The funniest thing happened on Saturday morning when Kevin went for a walk with the boys. Tori scared a black cat out of the tall grass and into a pipe. So Kevin phoned me and said that he thought Chubby might be alive. I went out to where this cat was hiding and called her name and immediately she came out to me - it was Chubbs!!!! The cat that was killed in the fan of the truck was an imposter who looked EXACTLY like our Chubbs! What are the chances of that. So needless to say I was quite happy on Sabbath morning to have our little Chubbs back! It was so cute to see the kids' reaction - that doesn't happen too often :)

Sad Goodbyes

In the past 2 weeks we have had some unfortunate luck with some of our pets. On May 19 one of our bunnies, Floppy, died on us at the age of 3 years old. It was a sad day for the boys. Floppy upon arriving at our place in 2008.

Soon after Floppy passed away Chubbs, our black cat became good friends with our other rabbit and enjoyed sleeping in the bunny house with Pepper away from all the noise and chaos outside. But unfortunately this morning, Chubby was in a place she shouldn't have been (sleeping near the fan in one of the big trucks) and was killed when Kevin went out to start the truck. She will be DEARLY missed, she was 9 years old and a favorite of ours.

The ONE bad thing about having pets is having to say goodbye!
