Farewells and Good Times

This fall our church said good bye to our pastor and his wife after they have been with us for nearly 8 years.  They set out east to pastor a church on the east coast.  We wish them all the best in their new adventures!

A Time of Remembering, Reflecting and Rejoicing

REJOICING in a promise of 1Thessalonians 4:16, 17.

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17  NKJV

Grandpa's funeral service was held on August 23rd in Veteran, AB.  All of his family were there with the exception of Marvin (Jodie's husband) & Jason, Jacob and Jenna (Julie's family).  Wednesday evening we spent all together with the family and attended a viewing of Grandpa before his service the following day.  A very nice service was held for Grandpa, one that he would have appreciated.  Then we really enjoyed having most of the family here for the following weekend where we could reminisce about stories and share in the laughter and tears with each other.  I really appreciated how the Letniak family came together at a time like this and made everyone feel a part in the preparation of Grandpa's funeral.  I am very lucky to be part of a family like this one!  Once again, far too many pictures to post so I created a smile box of the time we have spent together in the past 5 days.

We are so thankful for the memories that we created with Bill and Joan. We are also so grateful for their time they took to come and visit us at the farm in 2006. He was a wonderful friend to my parents as well whom they enjoyed camping with in the summers. It is hard for us to understand why these wonderful people are taken from us so prematurely. I will never understand but I can not wait for Jesus to come again when we can see the ones we love again!

In Remembrance...

William Brian Kennedy

October 23, 1938 - September 29, 2011

This morning we lost a very special man in our life after he courageously battled cancer. He was a man with the most contagious laugh and the sweetest smile! I wish we could have bottled his laugh, it WAS the best!! I will miss his visits so much when I go back to Terrace. I was so lucky to have known him and have him and his lovely wife Joan as part of our lives......they were like family to us! We miss you Bill and I look so forward to resurrection morning when we are reunited with the loved ones that we have lost! Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Kennedy family during this difficult time.

Our family circle has been broken,

A link gone from our chain;

But though we're parted for a while,

We know we'll meet again.

Some day, we know not when,

We shall meet in a better land

And never part again.

We shall meet with many a loved one

That was torn from our embrace,

We shall listen to their voices,

And behold them face to face.

Sunshine pass, shadows fall,

Love's remembrance outlasts all.

Remembering a Life...

Yesterday we lost a member of our community and our church as Peggy Sankey passed away peacefully in Lacombe. She was quite the lady and over the years of living out here I enjoyed getting to know her and spending some time with her. Our deepest sympathies go out to her family, whom we consider dear to us. She will be missed, now she is resting in the Lord and waiting in peace until her Lord Jesus comes again! What a glorious day that will be!
