As I was away visiting in Terrace at the end of June this is what I missed at home!

His Eye Is On The Sparrow....

The other day when I went out to bbq one evening there was this little bird sitting under our patio furniture. Afraid that Tori might kill it I scooped it up and brought it into the house for the kids to see. Jaren then took it and held the little thing in his hand for quite some time. I think it may have hit our window and was a little bit stunned, so until it got it's bearings, it sat on Jaren's hand.

The Effects of the Storm

Today I drove over to Lawrence and Debbie's place to get some pictures. His was the hardest place hit with hail and he got around 4 1/2 inches of rain in less than 30 minutes. How sad what I saw! This was some of the ditches along the highway as I drove to Lawrence's.

Great Grandpa's garden!

As I was leaving a VERY fitting rainbow (and promise) enclosed Lawrence's farm. It is amazing how God talks to us and we do have to remember His promise even when things seem to be at their worst!

"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life." Genesis 9: 13-15

One Bad Storm!

I haven't posted for awhile since July has seemed to be one busy month but I had to post these pictures of an awful storm that hit us last night because there are some people waiting to see the effects of what it did. I will soon catch up with the month and fill you in on our activities...but back to the storm!

The clouds were swirling in every direction in the sky around us....

This on in particular was very strange and had a scarey look about it! It hung around the yard for awhile and then it decided to follow me as I went to my in-laws before the skies opened up!

This picture is taken looking back towards the direction of our place.

I had to go to my in-laws and thought that I would make it back home before the storm set in. Little did I know how fierce the wind/rain/hail would be which made me turn around 3 miles from our house and try to get back to my in-laws and wait out the weather there!

This cloud followed me ALL the way to my in-laws who live 5 miles from us. I was traveling about 95 km/hr and it kept up with me!

The Beauty of Moisture

When you live in such a dry country like we do you really enjoy when things are still lush in green in the middle of July. During our time of campmeeting we had quite the rain/hail storm out here which dumped just over 1/2 inch of rain at our place in less than an hour. Some neighbours had just over 4 inches of rain in that same time. Obviously we weren't in the heart of the storm - thank goodness. Then upon arriving home one night we had another good 1/2 inch of rain which soaked into the ground beautifully. I pray that this cooler, wetter weather stays with us for the summer and the heat won't burn things up like it usually does. You never know what the forecast is going to bring from day to day.

Eyes on the Skies

This afternoon we were privileged to have a nice visit with Elaine Sankey and her mother Lena. Lena used to live out here but moved away after her husband Pete passed a couple of years ago. We don't get to see her too often unless she comes out so it was nice that she got to come over and spend a bit of time with Landen and Jaren. Jaren had fun showing Elaine his collection of tractors and then later introducing her to Hoppy & Floppy.

In the earlier part of the evening we were once again blessed by the wonder of nature as a thunder and lightning storm brewed all around us. The sound of the thunder rumbling through the sky is such an amazing thing to hear. As you may have noticed I am quite fascinated with God's beauty of the clouds and storms that surround us during the summer months. There is just so much power in some of these that roll by.

Kevin, Jaren and I stayed outside for a bit to watch the skies and hear the thunder rolling all around. There is always something new for Jaren to see and always time for a good game of hide & seek in the tall grass.
