Saturday Evening Fun

On Saturday evening we were invited to a hot dog roast at the Sankey's.  It was fun to have the kids play together with Nicholas and Lucas who were visiting their Grandpa and Grandma from Vancouver Island.  It was a beautiful evening!

Jaren and Nic decided they would try jumping their bikes on Mrs. Elaine's pile of dirt she had in the yard.

While at Auntie Randi's the weather was beautiful (till the day we wanted to come home) so we got out walking and riding bikes pretty much everyday!  The kids had a blast being able to ride their bikes on some smooth pavement, something that is not commonly found at the farm!  So these are just a few pictures of the fun times the kids had outside.

There are 2 newer posts before this one, if you want to see them.  So click on Older Posts to see Easter Sunday at Randi and Trent's and our day in Calgary with the McMynns.

In Like A Lion......

...and hopefully out like a lamb!!! This is what our weather looked like the day before spring began. We had a terrible blizzard that started in the later morning on Monday, March 19th and continued to get worse as the day went on. It amounted to a fair bit of snow which we desperately needed. So of all days to go out and play the boys wanted to get out in the blizzard. To my amazement they lasted out there over an hour!

It's pretty bad when the dog wanted to come into the house before the kids did!! My Snow Dog!
Then of course after all that snow there is melting and even MORE fun when the mud appears!! So for the past week my washing machine has been kicked into overdrive trying to keep up with these boys and their clothes!!!
Over the past 2 days it is finally starting to feel a little more like spring. Landen and I were able to get out yesterday and help move some pairs out of the sloppy corrals to the pasture. It was so great to be outside and enjoy the warmer temperatures on the quads!

Sabbath Afternoon Craft Time

Yesterday afternoon the boys made some crafts and enjoyed every minute of it. With glue, glitter and paint involved the first thing that we do is get rid of our good shirts!!! :) Hence the topless boys!!

They both worked on decorating a picture frame each.....Landen had to pain his and Jaren glued gems all over his.

Looking at his project that he now has to patiently wait for it to dry.

Then it was on to decorating butterflies to fly around the house.

Landen's First Time on Skates

Last night we decided to strap a pair of skates onto Landen for the fist time to see how he did and we were quite impressed. He balanced there for the longest time and then would scuffle along a bit and stop. He amazed us at his balance. Pretty soon we'll have two speeding around on the ice!

Trying to get the hang of these things!

Taking a break. He used this chair a bit to push around and balance him on the ice. It worked well as a push bar and also as a quick place to have a rest!

He made quite a little distance here on his own, no bum tracks in the snow....yet!

He was doing so well standing there and slowly moving on his skates but of course as soon as I started recording him, down he went :) For Landen's VERY FIRST time on skates I was impressed that he was standing more than he was on his bum. He did great, he just got extremely frustrated that he would fall and had such a hard time getting back up.

A Party Brought to Our House

One afternoon last week the boys and I got a visit from Mr. Steven, a close neighbor and friend of ours. The boys just LOVE Mr. Steven and refer to him as The Candy Man as he dishes out candy to them usually every week after church! He is so great with the boys and always takes extra time for his "little friends". It was fun to have him over. On top of him just coming for a visit he brought in a box and a cooler and said we were gonna have a party. A few minutes later out came ice cream cones, ice cream and cookies.....so we had an ice cream party. The kids thought that was the best!!

Enjoying their ice cream and cookies!! Thanks again Mr. Steven!

Kicking Off the New Year

It's hard to believe that we are already coming close to the end of January. It has been a busy month so far. Connie and I tackled painting our church foyer, which took a good full 4 days. But of course the only picture I took of was when Ron, my Father-in-law was painting over the stairs (an area Connie and I couldn't reach). Needless to say it was a job that really needed to be done and I am happy to have that out of the way. We also went through one horrific week of unbelievably cold weather so Jaren had to spend the week home with us as the buses weren't running due to the extreme temperatures. We need to get life back to "normal", whatever that may be!!!

On Sunday Ryan (Kevin's cousin) and his new fiance Trina were out visiting at the farm so we went over to have a nice visit and lunch with them. Congratulations to them!!!! We are soo happy for them both and look forward to celebrating with them this summer!!!

Our little model, posing for a picture today before he headed out with Daddy to haul a load of peas west! He is such a little charmer!!

Landen has to be just like Daddy so he insisted on wearing his coveralls (like Daddy does) for trip. He even needed the vest on underneath like his dad!!! :)

With one child less in the house Jaren and I headed to our dug-out which Kevin cleared yesterday to have Jaren practice skating. This was his second atttempt today at skating and he did pretty good! He's practicing since the school is going to be going on everyday that they are there, so he wanted to try and get the hang of it before he had to do it in front of his peers.

It was soo nice to get outside for a 2nd day and enjoy some more reasonable and seasonable temperatures! I love winter when it's like this!!

A perk of living in the wide-open spaces is that you get to have your own skating rink!! :)

Little Miss Tori of course can not miss out on the action!
