Yesterday Daddy had to be Mr. Mom as I was working and Grandma was in Red Deer. I guess they had a very fun-filled full day. So much so that Jaren fell asleep in the truck and napped there for 1 1/2 hours right straight through lunch, so Kevin didn't wake him but packed him a little to-go lunch for when he woke up. This is where he got to gobble down him meal! What a day! All I know is that I had a very dirty and tired little boy once they got home at supper-time!Thursday, November 8, 2007

More Fun....
Last night instead of driving around the countryside going door-to-door we headed to the New Brigden Hall to join in on their Halloween festivities. Every year they put on a few games for the kids to play and then the parents bring their candy give-aways so all the kids line up and go along the table to collect their goods for the evening. Everyone has fun and stays warm!On our way over there we did make 2 stops, one to Granmda Letniak's and the other to the Sankey's place to show off our costume. Jaren had quite the time running around after his buddies Osten & Braxton once we got to the hall and he got warmed up. It was great to see everyone and we really enjoyed ourselves! Thanks ladies for the hard work you put into organizing the event!

Happy Halloween!
This year we decided that Jaren would look really cute as a little zebra. When we first put on his costume he was determined that he was a white giraffe but by the end of our custume party with the Mother Goose group he was making the proper zebra sounds. The only thing that he wasn't crazy about after that was being called a "fat, little zebra"!! All-in-all he was the cutest zebra that I had ever seen!! :)Happy Halloween!

Mother Goose Halloween Party
Jaren & I have been attending a Mother Goose storytime since September. It is an hour of where the kids sing, listen to a couple of stories and do a craft. Because of Halloween tomorrow everyone showed up dressed in their costumes. It was quite fun to watch them and at least get a little more use out of our costume rather than a couple hours of wear-time!

Carving His Pumpkin
Tonight we decided to fill a bit of our evening carving Jaren's pumpkin for Halloween. My little helper was very good at getting the job done - so following you can see our creation of Paula the Pumpkin.
Drawing on Paula's eyebrows very carefully
Scooping out the "junk" as Jaren called it
Putting on our last little finishing touches with a crayon
"There." As it was so well put by our little guy
Our happy Paula - ready now for Halloween!
Happy Halloween to you all!
(We will post pictures of our little dressed up boy when we get ready for the big evening of trick-or-treating!)

More Pictures!!
As Grandpa Sparks said "Tiny Bubbles"
Helping Grandpa learn how to pound in nails - maybe we'll get our baseboards & trim done in our house sooner than later with the help of Jaren!

Kevin and I getting a lesson from mom on filleting our salmon. You did a a good job mom, just need you to come and do the other ones we got in the freezer now! :) I don't know if Jaren knew quite what to make of this fish laying on the counter - we don't see those everyday out here on the prairies!! What a special treat when we do get it! YUMMY!!

A Surprise Visit
Last week we headed west to Terrace, B.C. to make a surprise visit to my mom & dad's place. I didn't want to let them know we were coming so that mom wouldn't stress about getting things done before we got there so we just showed up to her work on Friday afternoon and yes....she & dad were very surprised. It was a bitter-sweet weekend because on Sabbath morning our family dog, Kida of 15 years ended up having a stroke so we had to put her down that afternoon. She was a wonderful companion to all of us and she will be greatly missed. I am just glad that we were able to be there for my parent's and that they didn't have to go through that all alone - what a terrible thing! I look forward to the day when we NEVER again have to deal with sickness, sorrow or death!
Buddies for life - Keesha, Jaren & Kida
You will be forever missed my dear friend!! She always wore a smile when she looked at you!Nov 27, 1993- Oct 13, 2007
On Sunday Kevin and I were fortunate to be able to head up a river close to Terrace called the Exchamsiks River on a river boat with my cousin Ronnie and a good friend of his. The scenery was just absolutely breathtaking - you forget how beautiful the country that you live in really is! The water for this river was extremely high so we were able to take the river boat some places that you could not normally go to - it was amazing!

Then Kevin spent Monday and Tuesday with my Uncle Walter scouring the rivers trying to catch a fish and thankfully they were successful and we were able to bring home a lovely Coho Salmon! Thank you soo much Uncle Walter for taking the time with Kevin - he loved every minute of it!
Another thing that you don't see everyday...........a live bear trap sitting in mom and dad's driveway. A VERY large pesky black bear has been getting into everyone's garbage this fall so they are attempting yet once again (after 3 years of trying to get him I understand!) to trap him. Our neighbors took a picture of him the night before in their yard and he was HUGE!!!
Our trip home we decided to tour through the ice fields so Jaren could catch a glimpse of some more wildlife. We saw a mother mountain goat and her kid along the side of the road, several deer and even a black bear down by the river which was the highlight for Jaren!
It was a wonderful time at home and I am glad that we were there when we were! Our little trooper did awesome with all the driving because from our house to Terrace it is a 18 1/2 hour drive! I was a little nervous but we hardly heard a peep out of him. Our trip was complete also by bringing my piano home from Terrace so now we will be able to limber up these fingers again after many years of not playing! Thanks again mom and dad for everything! Miss you already and we can't wait to see you at Christmas time!
