Fun With the Bunnies

This morning we spoiled 2 of our bunnies by bringing them inside to play with Jaren for a couple of hours. I don't know if they thought that they were being spoiled as they had combines and tractors driving about them as they were exploring Jaren's bedroom! I think they were much happier once they got to join their siblings in the bunny pen. What a difference a few hours made in taming them down - we may have to do this a little more often to get them used to people before they go off to their new homes in a couple weeks. Keesha wasn't too sure what to make of these fuzzy little creatures that were invading her space. They are just so adorable and have grown a great deal in the past 2 weeks. They keep getting cuter and cuter!

Another Blast of Winter

We FINALLY got a beautiful dump of snow in the past 2 days!!

Things were REALLY beginning to look bleak as there was hardly a bit of snow to be found anywhere! Not a good sign for spring run-off. But 2 days ago we started to get a wonderful snowfall and it continued lightly throughout yesterday as well. I think we may have got a total of 6 inches or so. I just hope now that a big wind doesn't come up and blow all of this precious moisture into Saskatchewan like it usually does!!

Even though the temperatures were bitterly cold this morning Jaren and I bundled up to get some fresh air and shovel off our deck so at least the cats could get to their water dish! Jaren, Landen and myself have still been fighting this cold that we got the beginning of February so hopefully this cold weather will kill those bugs as well!

We are looking forward to the opportunity to shovel more snow if it was to come our way before spring!

The "Little" One

Our little Landen is just 2 weeks shy of turning 1 year old!! This past year has zipped by so quickly, it is hard to believe that we brought home a 4lb 11oz baby just over 365 days ago! What a year it has been with him! He is now fully on-the-go and loves tormenting Jaren by trying to play with everything that Jaren has at that moment. He still has not mastered the stairs so Jaren can have a "Landen free" zone if he plays in the living room or in his bedroom. But that won't be safe for too much longer!
"Okay Mommy, you're embarrassing me!"
Jaren was practicing his photography skills with Landen and I and he actually was able to get one picture in focus and one that had both of us in it! Pretty soon he'll be the one doing the posting!

Another Birthday Party!

February has seemed to be the month of birthday parties! This week we went to Braxton's 4th birthday party and enjoyed playtime with lots of kids and loads of pizza and ice cream!

Instead of ice cream Landen had a nice cold drink of milk :)

Kaitlyn's 3rd Birthday

On Saturday we celebrated Kaitlyn's 3rd birthday - it is so hard to believe how grown-up the kids are getting. She was thrilled to have her favorite........Clifford the Big Red Dog birthday cake.

One happy birthday girl

For her birthday gift Kaitlyn received her very own stuffed Clifford - what an excited girl!! Pictured above Kaitly introducing Great Grandpa to her new friend.

Hemaruka Discing Spiel

Tuesday afternoon we ended our day partaking in the annual Hemaruka discing spiel. It is something that the community does every year and it is another great opportunity to get together with neighbours that you don't see too often.

Jaren and Grieg discussing important life issues

My hubby, one of the skips

Landen enjoying the entertainment and all the attention from everyone. Never lacking in people to hold him while Mommy and Daddy played.

This year there was the most kids there that I have ever seen. It was so wonderful to see that our community is still alive. Here are a few of them practicing their technique for future discing spiels!

Birthday Celebrations

On Tuesday morning we headed out to celebrate Gavin's 4th birthday. He is one of our newest neighbours who just moved here from New Zealand a couple of weeks ago. His Grandpa and Grandma farm a couple of miles from us so their family moved back to farm with them. It is nice to have a couple more boys to add to our little group out here. Gavin has a younger brother, Adam, who is 2.

Jaren enjoying his sucker - much to his mother's dismay!

Keeping entertained with the many balloons

Blowing out of the trick candles - there was definitely one side of the cake that you wanted to stay away from!

Bunnies, Bunnies & More Bunnies!

Much to my surprise on Thursday when I went to go feed and water our 2 bunnies I happened to notice a nest of hair in the corner of the pen......... and low and behold there were 4 fully haired baby bunnies!! (At least as far as I could tell! Hopefully there's not any more!) At the beginning of January we picked up a friend to keep Floppy company and unfortunately our new bunny Pepper was already pregnant when we brought her home! So about 2 weeks ago these little bunnies were born and have survived the cold all cozied down in the straw and rabbit's nest. Now we definitely can be sure of the sex of Pepper and I am still hoping that Floppy is also a female! I guess only time will tell.....if we get another batch of bunnies one of the rabbits will have to go back to the original home! I am not having a bunny mill! But for the time being we are going to enjoy watching these little babies grow - they are so cute and Jaren is quite excited about the litter. He doesn't want us to find homes for them - hopefully one already has a place to go - Auntie Debbie may take it and have it as a school pet. That would be a perfect place for lots of attention. Anyone want a bunny??

We are guessing that they are at least 12-14 days old because their eyes are open.

Waited 11 months!

Last night, just hours shy of turning 11 months Landen decided to start crawling. He was in his bedroom and must have got bored so he slowly made his way out into the dining room to be with the rest of us. So today life has become a little more exciting for him and a little more annoying for Jaren. Jaren must soon learn to put anything of "value" up on the table out of the reach of his little brother. We knew it was in him but he had to learn it on his own time! Life was a little easier 19 hours ago! :)

Going to see what that Jaren is up to

On other news........Jaren had his first full night in big-boy underwear!!!! He hasn't had a night accident in about 3 weeks so we decided to give a night with no Pull-Up a try and all was dry this morning! I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can say now that he is FULLY potty-trained; day & NIGHT!
Both boys are growing by leaps and bounds....it is hard to believe that in one month Landen will be 1 year old. With each day that passes, I know that our love for these two little humans grows more and more. They are such a joy and blessing to have!

Fun Times

It's that time where I think Landen needs to move into the bigger car seat. From the imprints left on my arm from carrying him in his infant seat I finally broke down and did the move yesterday. Let me tell you what a pain to get these things securely into a vehicle. Because he is still not a year or 22 lbs he has to be rear-facing - I don't know how these seats would fit into a small car cause it barely fits in the Tahoe in the rear-facing position! So now Jaren and Landen are both settled in their comfortable seats (with no room for anyone else to fit in between them!). How did I ever survive as a child? :)
The past couple of days we have had exceptionally warm spring-like weather so every opportunity he has Jaren is outside playing, enjoying the melting snow and PUDDLES!!!

Keesha really enjoys this kind of weather too and also the company outside with her!

Landen stood at the window yesterday watching his big brother play on the deck - pretty soon he'll be out there too having fun in the sun.

Rather than play outside he discovered yesterday afternoon that if you wiggle over to the drawers they pull open and there is lots of fun things to pull out!! Yippee!
